On Thursday, I was meeting with one of my service providers about my short sales and how to make them more salable. We decided we needed somewhere that was in between both of us and wasn’t McDonalds and that is when Pasta Veloce was presented as an idea and I’m glad it was.

You see, Pasta Veloce is located right in the middle of a little strip mall, in a small, little parking lot near a bank and across the street from a small, little medical center. Now, when I went in at lunch time, I quickly realized that my idea of having a restaurant in a strip mall was a weird place was way wrong, there were only a few seats left.

This place is a cross between a fast food restaurant and a casual restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you walk up to the counter, pick up a menu and order right from the counter. Then they give you a number, you walk to your seat, and about 10 minutes later your food arrives. The atmosphere was perfect for meeting with my vendor, as it was quiet enough to talk and you didn’t feel weird talking business like you would in a McDonalds or a Burger King.

Now, I ordered the Tortellini Veloce, a three cheese dish and oh, I wanted to come back for dinner and have even more. I do like my pasta and cheese and this dish satisfied both cravings! If you are in Tigard or Beaverton I suggest you check it out. It is located just off Scholls Ferry at North Dakota Street. The only problem I had was finding a parking place since the bank, the restaurant and Starbucks are all busy. But, in my opinion, it was still well worth it.

I couldn't believe it when I got the email, there it was, someone wanted to pay me to use my photo. This makes me a professional, well I guess not until I actually get the check. But, I have a lawyer writing a contract on exactly how the photo can be used and for how long. But, I have to say that when one of your first is used, it is really exciting. The Greenburg neighborhood of Tigard, Oregon goes east, starting at 121^stAve, to Hwy 217, and south, from Scholls Ferry to Pacific Highway (99w). This part of Tigard, Oregon is partially in Tigard School district and partially in the Beaverton School District. The only park in this area of Tigard is Englewood Park near Scholls Ferry road. However, it does connect to a much larger park on the Beaverton side of Scholls Ferry Road, called Greenway Park.

Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to play is!

I’ve coached baseball and softball for at least 5 years now and one thing I’m not afraid to say is I like to win. But, it doesn’t and shouldn’t be at all cost, it needs to be fun, but I do want to make sure my players aren’t injured and they play as a team.

What sports are all about is teaching kids to learn to be part of a team and working together to reach a common goal of winning. Now if you play together, have fun and still lose, then I really don’t care, you tried and that is all I ask.

But, my pet peeve is when parents force their children who clearly don’t want to play to play anyway. I don’t appreciate parents who force their kids to play the sports they played as a kid, so they can re-live their youth. Kids need to be happy and find what they are good at and try to excel at that. But, if you have a kid that you are forcing to play a sport they say they don’t want to play you are actually endangering that child, because when they aren’t paying attention, those are the kids that get hurt by a ball coming at them when they aren’t looking.

So, please if you are a parent of a child that doesn’t want to play a particular sport, then find one they are interested in, even if you aren’t a fan of that sport and support them in their growth. I think sports are very important for the health and mental progression of kids, but forcing a child to play will not help them in any way!

I think learning to win is very important and I don’t like the new sports programs that don’t keep score and say that it isn’t about winning, because the real world doesn’t work that way.

Don’t spend my money when you don’t have too!

I’m about one week from closing on a home that is in foreclosure and the loan that is in foreclosure is a VA loan. The bank that is foreclosing is about 2 months away from foreclosing on this property, yet I still got a call today from a VA appraiser wondering if there was a lockbox on the property so they could do an appraisal on the property.

I had to ask, why are we spending tax payer money ordering an appraisal on a property that was less than a week away from closing? I could understand if it had passed the date it was supposed to close and they thought that they may have to foreclose, but that isn’t the situation here.

So, my question is, how do you stop the banks from doing stupid things like spending our money on things that aren’t needed, like a tax payer paid appraisal on a VA loan that won’t matter in a week and probably won’t even be back to the bank before we close?

Warren Buffet says the housing market will start to recover by 2011. That is when he predicts demand will catch up with supply, but I have a question. Warren, don’t we have to fix the economy first? Over the past year we have watched the deficit explode to a record high, unemployment has skyrocketed to over 10% in most areas, and then lending has all but become impossible to obtain.

So, how is the housing market going to improve if more and more foreclosures are coming on to the market, unemployment has no sign of slowing, and the deficit continues to rise? Does this signal a change in the real estate market?

I hope you are right because my livelihood is a stake as a real estate agent, but at the same time, I don’t have a lot of confidence in our government. So far, their solution is to throw money at the problem and not actually let the market correct itself. I think if we actually let business do business and keep the government out of it, we may actually recover. However, I think we are going to see a lot more situations like the ones we have with GM and IMB right now, where they are basically government owned.

So, Warren, what are the indicators you are using to determine that we are about to recover? Inquiring minds want to know.
