One of the things I remember the most about summer on the farm as a kid was wheat fields. Though I didn’t live on a farm myself, my backyard was next to a lot of farms and I was on those all the time. I would ride horses almost every day during the summer months of my junior high and high school days.

This picture just reminded me of those way too short summer months walking across the wheat field to the barn where I would get the horse and go riding from early morning until late in the evening. Boy, do I miss those days.

I love it when my husband plants wheat for the animals. It is so pretty.
I wish you would post this in the Saturday's Shots group so that I could feature it! I love it!!
Great picture Todd. I spent a lot of time on my grandparents dairy as a kid. Did a lot of running around out in the corn fields and around the barn. I even milked a few cows in my day. Have a great holiday weekend.
Todd - awesome shot!!! Pictures take on a whole new meaning when we get off our feet and on our knees. Or lower!!!
Me too!
Me too.

Thanks for the nostalgic trip back to my own childhood and summers on my grandparents farms. I remember the weeds and grass growing taller than I was and the literally hundreds and hundred of grasshoppers jumping into us as my sisters and I tried to find our way through. I can smell it now.

Ahh, those wonderful memories of the lazy, hazy days of summer and the great times we used to have after the chores were done and we were free until supper time. Thanks for sharing the beautiful picture. Who would think growing wheat could look so healthy and artistic.

Todd..I didn't grow up on a farm..I grew up in the big city kind of a concrete jungle ..beaches and pools, but my thoughts of summers going by much to quickly were just on my mind too.
Hannah
Fabulous photo of the wheat...thanks for sharing the close up.
Todd,
That is a great shot. Not sure if it's wheat fields or corn fields that symbolizes America more. Happy 4th! :)

Todd,
This could be the beginning of your memoir. It's a great story with words that speak directly from the heart. I could see this turning into a great novel; perhaps a movie. With or without the great photograph, you have painted pictures in my mind of those days of you as a child growing up by the wheat fields.
Congratulations on being featured twice! You deserve it :)
Todd,
Congratulations. Your post is now featured in "Silent Saturday." :)
