When is a rock not just a rock? Today I found out! One of the things I love about home schooling my kids is when a lesson presents itself to you, you can change what you had planned to teach them that day because the life lesson is better than anything in a book!
Well, today one of those lessons came in the form of a rock! Normally people just say, a rock? What is so special about a rock? But, think about it. There are so many different types of rocks. They even call a diamond a rock and that certainly isn’t something where people say, “Oh, that is just a rock.”
The first reason this is
more than just a rock is the fact that it was a gift
from one of my clients. I will admit when I first saw it,
I thought it was just
a rock also. Then I found out the story behind this little rock and now
today
this rock sits on my desk as inspiration that I can win no matter how
big the obstacle
is.
The second reason this rock is much more than a “just a rock” and the reason it gives me inspiration is the fact of where this rock comes from. You see this rock came from Israel and from the same bed of rocks that David picked out his smooth rocks that helped him slay the giant Goliath, that was thought to be impossible to take down.
So, as you can see, this rock is more than just a rock. This rock could have been a rock that David himself could have picked up, looked at, and thought to himself, “Is this the rock that will help me defeat the giant Goliath?”
So today, this rock has become my symbol, the symbol that no matter what problem is presented to me, no matter how big. I, Todd Clark, can overcome it, even when others think it is impossible. That is the lesson my kids learned in school today. Don’t let others tell you that it is impossible, if you believe in yourself, you can overcome even the largest of obstacles.

Isn't home schooling great we learn as much or more than our kids. This reminded me about another story having to do with rocks, I will blog about later.
Hi Todd!

That rock is way more valuable than any "rock" someone puts on their finger! What a wonderful lesson and what lucky children you have!
Very cool story.
Hi Todd! What a beautiful message--and I'm with Paula, what lucky children you have, my dear!
Todd we also home school our kids and these lessons are the ones we value most. Thanks for reminding me why we do this.
Amen Brother,
Your kids are lucky to have you responsible for their education and not the public schools.
This was a great message for all of us.
Now have a Blessed Day,
John
Hi, Todd. Great post. This certainly is a lesson for all of us! Thanks.
What a great lesson and perfect timing for me. Yesterday was rough, one of those day that you shake your head and say I love what I do, but.... So now I think I'll go find myself a rock today to keep in my pocket and remind myself of what your blog has said. Thank you and I look forward to your next post.
Your children learned a valuable lesson today and even though I may not have a rock from the same place, I may have to find a nice one for my desk to remind me of this.. Thanks, Todd!

I am featuring this post in, "Christianity and Real Estate"... AWESOME principles to post, my friend!!!
(I think I have my mojo back !!!)
David RAN to the conflict.... and killed the opposing warrior with just a sling and a stone.....
\O/
Todd --- Indeed, I would have to agree that this is not "just a rock" -- I keep a frog on my desk to remind me to do the most difficult things first.

Now that's FAITH talking loud and clear! A reminder also that JESUS is the ROCK!
I remember a great quote that ent something like, when giants of tribulation torment you, remember that you have access to the same power that David had when he slayed goliath.... Wish I could remember it. Great reminder, thanks.
I Love It!!!
Amen, my friend. God teaches us just the way that you are teaching your children. What a blessing to you and to all of us who know you. :)
Hi, Todd! Very inspiring post, and I congratulate you on home schooling your children.
I read sometime ago here on AR one ex-teacher trashing homeschooling. I thought she was misguided.
Thank you and keep it up!
Todd:
Very Good, Thank you for sharing it with us.
Hey wait a minute... I have the rock that came from the stream bed that killed Goliath... and it looks very much like yours. Mine is autgraphed by David though... JK
Seriously, I do have one also and it sits right here on my desk in front of me to remind of the fact that the impossible IS always doable with Him behind me!
I love the fact that you also understood the deep implications of what some would look at as a simple rock and that you teach your children such things... Blessings, Bob
Proverbs 20:5
The purposes of a man's heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.
Hey Todd, this is a very cool story. Thanks so much for sharing! I love how anything can be used as an analogy - if we put some thought into it. All of us have a Goliath in our life - so what could our "rock" be? Just a thought! ;-)
