Want a pumpkin and an adventure? Check out Baggenstos Farm in Sherwood, Oregon.
Now, I have to admit right up front that I would have never gone to Baggenstos if it wasn’t for my two daughters. You see, they were invited to Baggenstos through their Girl Scout Troop and by going they got a patch of some sort.
Baggenstos
was fun! It
had everything for kids... pumpkin
bowling, hay rides, large pumpkin
patch, corn maze, playground equipment, food and just lots of fun.
Now, why wouldn’t I have gone there? Well, I have been going to the
same pumpkin patch for over 20 years and it is just tradition. I
still plan to go to that one in a couple weeks.
The pumpkins we picked here will long be dead by the time Halloween comes around. But if you have kids, I do have to say you need to check this place out. But if you are on a tight budget, you may want to run the other way because it can become costly real quick.
The corn maze, the pumpkin bowling, and the hay ride to pick out a pumpkin all cost money. Our family quickly went over $30 for the day and that was with the Girl Scout discount that we got that day.
So,
if you are looking for a
fun afternoon, which you certainly can easily have there, then I
suggest you check this place out. But if you are just
looking for a
simple place to pick out a pumpkin and that is it, there are some
great family owned patches near by that are really only about the
pumpkins and not the adventure that Baggenstos gave our children.
I
will go back next year, because the kids did have a lot of fun. We
were there close to two hours without the kids getting bored one bit.
But, I still will stop off at my family owned pumpkin patch that I
have been going to for 20 years, because it is more about the
pumpkins than the adventure, and for some reason I feel the pumpkins
at the tiny place have a little more personality.

Todd,
Thanks!
On M 43 just East of Kalamazoo is "Gene The Pumpkin Man's" farm. Lots of great memories flashed back reading this post.
Of course Gene was a year round friend, a cousin of Brenda's.
Sorta' a "Mr Greenjeans" in orange, Gene worked all year for October. Brenda's mother Carol published a book "Gene The Pumpkin Man" about Gene and his unque sales persona! Accualy he lives it 24/7!
Bill
Todd, My kids have opened a whole new world that I would have never experienced without them!
Make the most from every day!
Paul
Todd, I love corn mazes and pumpkin patches...so much fun for the family! Nice post!
Todd
This is and will always be one of the most memorable times I have with my son.
Todd --- also, I like tradition -- I would go to the same patch, just to keep up the family tradition -- sounds like your family had a great time, though.
Mama Liz
Todd, what a great time you must of had. I got an idea for my Halloween party as well, a hay maze.
They are small for a short time a few dollars and they had fun sounds like a good choice.
Morning Todd, What a fun adventure for the kids and to be perfectly honest I'd like it too, especially the corn maze. My grandfather was a farmer and I remember being able to disappear in the cornfields.
Nice memories for your children. Latter on they'll look back and treasure that family time time you spent with them! Priceless in my book because they do grow so fast.
By the way I responded to your comment on my butterfly blog this morning, I've just received all my email & AR home page notifications that I had comments on my blog. AR has been kinda hit & miss w/ me for about a week.
I forgot to add Todd, the video was so cute I had to watch it twice. Thanks for starting my day off w/ a big smile :D
Marcy, we actually didn't get our first bought of fog until this morning. Weird!
Bill - Now, I want to find that book and read it, he sounds like an interesting guy who really had a love for Halloween or at least pumpkins!
Sarah - Have never bought one from a store and never will, that just show any feeling toward the holiday.
Paul - Kids always seem to have wider eyes than we do and certainly see things differently than we do.
Wanda - I had never been in one until this one and I do have to say it was fun, but it was so big. I'm glad we had a satellite photo of the maze.
Tom - I think Halloween and Christmas our the big holidays for our family and we always seem to make great memories.
Liz - We will be going to the other patch, but it looks like we will be going to two pumpkin patches from now on.
Charles - My family has a big Halloween party every year and all my clients with kids are invited. It is so much fun!
Terry - It really is a few dollars, but it easily could have been over $60 for the family if it wasn't for the Girl Scouts.
Cynthia - You forget how tall corn is until you go through one of these mazes.
