Imagine yourself staring down a seven layer chocolate cake after already eating a great meal. That was what happened to me last week after having lunch with my fellow Rainer Jill Watts out of Vancouver, Washington.

She wanted to meet up learn a few things more about blogging and pictures and Activerain in general and so we decided to met over lunch. Our first choice didn’t have WIFI, they lose, but then I came up with Rose’s in Orchards, it was right in between both of us and they offered free WIFI so we could eat and work on Activerain at the same time.

I ordered their fish and chips and though it didn’t fill me, that was alright, because I knew what was coming. You know when you go to roses, you aren’t going for the meal, you are going for the deserts. Though the meal was excellent, it just wasn’t filling enough and I think they know that when you order it or they wouldn’t be selling so many deserts each and every day. (Heck that is why they are famous, along with their dinner plate sized cinnamon rolls)

I really enjoyed my meeting with Jill and I do have to say if you are ever up in Vancouver check out the Rose’s there, but I do know Roses has been a Portland classic for over 50 years and you don’t stay around that long unless you are doing something right and they are! Making us leave full after eating every bit of that 7 layer chocolate cake.

On Thursday, I was meeting with one of my service providers about my short sales and how to make them more salable. We decided we needed somewhere that was in between both of us and wasn’t McDonalds and that is when Pasta Veloce was presented as an idea and I’m glad it was.

You see, Pasta Veloce is located right in the middle of a little strip mall, in a small, little parking lot near a bank and across the street from a small, little medical center. Now, when I went in at lunch time, I quickly realized that my idea of having a restaurant in a strip mall was a weird place was way wrong, there were only a few seats left.

This place is a cross between a fast food restaurant and a casual restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you walk up to the counter, pick up a menu and order right from the counter. Then they give you a number, you walk to your seat, and about 10 minutes later your food arrives. The atmosphere was perfect for meeting with my vendor, as it was quiet enough to talk and you didn’t feel weird talking business like you would in a McDonalds or a Burger King.

Now, I ordered the Tortellini Veloce, a three cheese dish and oh, I wanted to come back for dinner and have even more. I do like my pasta and cheese and this dish satisfied both cravings! If you are in Tigard or Beaverton I suggest you check it out. It is located just off Scholls Ferry at North Dakota Street. The only problem I had was finding a parking place since the bank, the restaurant and Starbucks are all busy. But, in my opinion, it was still well worth it.

You have heard when someone gets bad service that person will tell 10 people, but Sunday night my wife and I went out and I have to say we got great service, so I’m going to do my best to tell 10,000 people!

It all started Sunday afternoon after church when my parents decided to take the kids for the night and told my wife and I to go out. Being it has been a very long time since it has just been the two of us we took it. (Of course, we took Monday morning to go start Christmas shopping before we picked up the kids!)

So, we decided to go to Red Lobster in Tigard (Click here for a map) and get their endless shrimp platter. We got there and they said it would be about a 10 minute wait and I was happy to find out it was actually only about a 5 minute wait and they sat us at the back at a fairly private table.

Our server, Lyndi, pictured to the right, was absolutely amazing! She gave us some suggestions of what shrimp to try. (Do try the Teriyaki!) Once we got our first serving of shrimp, she suggested we order our second since it takes a little bit to prep the next batch, she didn’t want us to be left waiting. (and she never did!) Our plates and our drinks were never empty and the only time we ever had to call her over to the table was to take her picture!

Now, I will admit when I went I was convinced I wasn’t going to order anything other than the coconut shrimp as I could live on that stuff, but by the end my taste buds were in an argument to which one was the best, the coconut or the Teriyaki. I have to say based on Lyndi and her service, we are going to go back again, but this time make sure we are seated in her section because that is way service is supposed to be!

If you are looking for good seafood, I can certainly tell you Red Lobster does have some great food and really amazing prices.
