I would like to introduce
you to my brother Chad Clark a
teacher in at Twality Middle School in Tigard, Oregon.
In his classroom he has
many animals, snakes, turtles, but his most important as far as I’m
concerned
is his fish.
You see once a year Chad gets salmon eggs from the Oregon fish and wildlife department and together with his class they make sure they keep the water temperature just right and once those eggs hatch they make sure the fish are feed until in the spring it is time to release them in to the wild where hopefully either they lay eggs of their own or hopefully for me, I get to catch them and have a great dinner.
But, either way, the salmon are a welcome addition to the wild population that was dwindling for a few years thanks to dams, sea lions and yes even fisherman. Since the introduction of hatchery fish in to the streams, we have been seeing bigger and bigger wild fish runs each and every year.
Hopefully with people like my brother there will eventually be enough wild salmon that we won’t have to release hatchery raised salmon in to the wild, but until then… Thank you Chad.
