When is a rock not just a rock? Today I found out! One of the things I love about home schooling my kids is when a lesson presents itself to you, you can change what you had planned to teach them that day because the life lesson is better than anything in a book!
Well, today one of those lessons came in the form of a rock! Normally people just say, a rock? What is so special about a rock? But, think about it. There are so many different types of rocks. They even call a diamond a rock and that certainly isn’t something where people say, “Oh, that is just a rock.”
The first reason this is
more than just a rock is the fact that it was a gift
from one of my clients. I will admit when I first saw it,
I thought it was just
a rock also. Then I found out the story behind this little rock and now
today
this rock sits on my desk as inspiration that I can win no matter how
big the obstacle
is.
The second reason this rock is much more than a “just a rock” and the reason it gives me inspiration is the fact of where this rock comes from. You see this rock came from Israel and from the same bed of rocks that David picked out his smooth rocks that helped him slay the giant Goliath, that was thought to be impossible to take down.
So, as you can see, this rock is more than just a rock. This rock could have been a rock that David himself could have picked up, looked at, and thought to himself, “Is this the rock that will help me defeat the giant Goliath?”
So today, this rock has become my symbol, the symbol that no matter what problem is presented to me, no matter how big. I, Todd Clark, can overcome it, even when others think it is impossible. That is the lesson my kids learned in school today. Don’t let others tell you that it is impossible, if you believe in yourself, you can overcome even the largest of obstacles.
